Hardcover with price clipped dust jacket (although with a rubber stamped price of $3.95, reflective of the good old days), 96 pages; very light traces of shelf wear along edges, some dust speckling to top edge, but very gently used, otherwise very clean and unmarked; DJ has a hint of soiling, spine panel sun faded, but no chips or tears. Hardcover without dust jacket, 64 pages; yellow cloth covers lightly soiled and worn along edges (spine gilt lettering still bright and clear), rough paper, roughly cut and wrinkled in places, possibly from exposure to moisture as there are traces of staining; cryptic initialled inscription of which "Aug 3rd 44 [year of publication, and] (Doodle-time)" are legible, and I would love to interpret the remaining 6 or 7 characters/letters to be an informal dedication from the author to her husband Vivian Ridler, but I can make no such claim as my friend and bookselling colleague disagrees with my vision (and warns me away from my romantic bent, but wouldn't it be lovely to think of a fast funny scribble from a 34-year old woman to her loving husband during the dark days of World War II? ahh! love in the afternoon). See also my listing for Ridler's play The Shadow Factory, containing a lengthy inscription by her (hey! you could buy both! compare my prurient perspicacity and heartfelt wishes against Len's stone cold pragmatism, and save on postage).

Hardcover without dust jacket, second impression January 1944, 64 pages (better quality paper than first printing, and evenly cut); yellow cloth covers lightly mottled/foxed (spine gilt lettering still bright and clear), possibly from exposure to moisture (although there is no other evidence of staining), interior very clean and unmarked other than Ridler's inscription "Genitha Halsey/from Anne Ridler/Christmas 1945". London Faber & Faber 1946 First Edition Hard Cover Very Good - Good Signed by Author
Hardcover with price clipped dust jacket, 67 pages; orange cloth covers very lightly soiled and worn along edges (spine gilt lettering still bright and clear), inscription in pencil on free front endpaper "Inscribed for me by AR April 1974, SJR", followed by a 12-line inscription by the author, beautifully written in ink, noted by her to be from "Tchekov, A Doctor's Visit", and initialled by her as "A. R."; DJ heavily chipped at top and, less so, bottom edges around spine panel, also a clear tape repair to spine panel, but all lettering present.
